“I want to know how long I gotta wait for justice.” That’s what Tamir’s mom said at our family’s press conference on Monday, and that’s what I want to know too. It’s been more than five months since Tamir was murdered by the police, and there hasn’t been any justice or a ruling from the city. That’s unacceptable to me. We have video evidence and we know the truth. We know that the police lied about what happened after they murdered my cousin. No one is paying the price for the crime, except for our family. Tamir’s mom has had to move away from their house. It's too much. These officers must be indicted and forced to defend themselves in a court of law, and the police need to learn that there are consequences for using deadly force as the first option.
