Compare and contrast. Two weeks ago I was arrested for making a phone call to 101 reporting on an invasion of our property and threats by a perpetrator whose bail conditions prohibit him from doing these things.
I entered an autistic meltdown during the call because of the lack of response and used wild words about possibly killing the perpetrator if no one will do anything, in a way that anyone listening would have known I had no serious intent.
Despite that the police predetermined, 2 days later, I needed to be arrested because they chose to believe it was a real threat and completely ignored the actual proved criminal activity of the perpetrator who merely stood outside egging them on to do their worst.
Today officers visit following another 101 call by me referring to continuing stalking and harassment by the perpetrator online for which he has been previously arrested and cautioned. The perpetrator was again using an alias he has used previously and where we have provided evidence as to why we know it is him. We provided officers with a written statement setting out the facts and corroborative evidence. Apparently their investigations were limited to asking us why we made the call and did not extend to actually talking to the alleged perpetrator to satisfy themselves one way or another about the facts. Had they done so they could have asked for access to his phone and would have seen that it was he who made the posts. Apparently they had no power to do so!
So I call the police about an actual crime and I get arrested, and was previously arrested based on the unsupported allegations of my perpetrator. On the other hand, I make an allegation about further breaches of bail by the perpetrator wupported by reasonable evidence and suddenly the police have no power to question the person against whom the allegation is made.
Is it really surprising that I think double standards are working and that the matey bloke is given leeway but the vulnerable disabled man is treated with suspicion and abuse.
The only bonus is that the stalker will see this and now be in a quandary as to whether to delete the alias account as result, proving his guilt, or leave it on the arrogant assumption the police will never bother to do so - just like last time, and the times before & the seventeen times before that.
