Reduce Hartlepool Council Tax

Hartlepool's Council Tax is high for a small and not particularly wealthy town, putting pressure on hardworking people with what seems like not much reward, reducing the cost of at least one bill will also help ease pressure on people already struggling to make ends meet.

We haven’t seen benefits from paying council tax yet, we have no hospital leading to lack of emergency care close to home, roads ridden with potholes and have had a recent rise in crime and not much visible police presence.

All this and other factors doesn’t seem to warrant the rise in council tax and while projects are being put in place to make the town nicer, for example Church Street, more effort should be made into the root causes bringing the standard of living in this town lower.

There’s a lot of effort to go into making Hartlepool a better place to live but the focus needs to be moved from making things look nice with new buildings that will either be vandalised and ruined or left empty and more planning into tackling crime, children’s upbringing and education, drug and alcohol abuse and the availability and quality of jobs in the town.
