Don't Displace the Orchestra Students!

Don't Displace the Orchestra Students!
The Issue
The Granite Ridge orchestra room will be taken over by band for 6th and 7th periods, which in turn will displace the orchestra students and orchestra teacher, too. This will force a very crowded and less than ideal learning experience as the 6th period orchestra class must join another orchestra class at a different time. Plus, the student to teacher ratio will not be favorable. This unwanted change will mean students will NOT have enough orchestra instruments available for both classes. The orchestra teacher will also lose his space during 7th period, which he uses to prepare for all of his classes.
Band students and band teacher already have a band room, so this move by those involved is causing a division and also setting a negative tone that orchestra is not as significant to them. One art is not better than the other. This blatant disregard for the orchestra students, teacher, and program may discourage future students of Granite Ridge/Clovis North to join orchestra.
We're asking for those involved in the decision making process to do the right thing. Reconsider this abrupt and unfair plan, explore other options, and give back the orchestra room to the students and teacher!
Musically yours,
The Orchestra Students of Granite Ridge and Clovis North
