After more than 35 years in business, Bagel Place in College Park is closing its doors due to an inability to reach an agreement with its current landlord, Curtis Property Management. The Bagel Place business owners have done everything they can to keep the College Park institution open, including lining up two potential buyers and offering to train them to run the business as its been done for more than three decades, however the landlord was not willing to reach an agreement to make a successful transition possible. Bagel Place is one of few small businesses that remain in College Park as high rent and development have made it challenging for small businesses to survive, leaving this community with an influx of high rise apartment buildings and chain restaurants that remove the charm this community wants to retain.
