Ban iReady

Ban iReady
The Issue
iReady is a learning tool used by teachers all across the United States. It is labeled as an aid for students in need of help in either their english or math classes. Some schools make iReady a mandatory thing that students need to do, which is alarming due to the fact that the Diagnostic test a student takes -before doing any lessons- can take up to 1.5 hours, and each lesson taking about the same amount of time. After completing the diagnostic, a student is set on a path of lessons that are never revisited and are eventually forgotten, and as a result, the student doesn’t hang on to the information very well. While working on iReady, students could be doing more important things like work for other classes rather than sitting and being unproductive for the classes they need to take. Also, after the diagnostic, the site says that the lessons given are "personalized" to help with what the student needs help with, which is a good idea at surface level, but due to algorithms being wrongly put together on top of a slur of other things, it makes iReady not productive for students and only hurts them. Sign the petition to raise awareness for this and get iReady banned.
