Save Walney Fire Station
The Issue
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service are wanting to close Walney Fire Station due to its "low activity" and move the Fire Engine to Barrow.
Since January 1st 2015 to October 20th 2015 Walney has had 123 emergency calls making it one of the busiest On Call Stations in the County.
As you all know Walney is an island with one bridge connecting it to the mainland putting this station in a unique position.
We want the Fire Engine to stay on Walney providing cover for its residents and businesses also backing up the Barrow pump providing the fastest response possible.
A move to Barrow station would mean it would take more than twice as long for the crew to be mobile to any emergency calls than it is now.
