Thanks for your support of the Meadowlark and Twin Lakes Open Space!
***Boulder County Public Hearing - Thurs May 28, 6pm
Can you send a quick email?
Great Horned Owls have nested near this 42 acre habitat oasis at Twin Lakes Open Space for the last 30 years. Sadly the main owl nesting tree collapsed under the winter snowfall. However the powerful cottonwoods ringing the Twin Lakes continue to provide excellent nesting opportunities for Great Horned Owls.
With your help this Thurs evening May 28 via a video public hearing or if you can send a quick email we can permanently protect the owl hunting grounds as part of the Twin Lakes Open Space.
While the nest may be in slightly different spot from year to year, the Owl Hunting grounds continue to be the feeding ground for Great Horned Owls and important habitat for a range of other species including Great Blue Heron and painted turtles.
Please copy and send tonight - Weds evening or Thursday May 28th. Feel free to add or update .

======================
Honorable Planning Board Commissioners,
I am writing in support of moving forward the Land Use Changes (#10, 11, 12) proposed by Twin Lakes Action Group to change the North and South fields to Open Space.
Note that the entire existing Twin Lakes Open Space is only 42 acres with 15 acres of that being lake, leaving 27 acres of terrestrial habitat.
Thus addition of the adjacent 20 acres of wetlands and grasslands habitat of the proposed Open Space would almost double the protected available meadow, forest and wetlands habitat acreage at Twin Lakes Open Space.
While there is excellent great horned owl nesting in the majestic cottonwood trees around the lake, available meadow owl hunting habitat is limited. The carrying capacity of Twin Lakes to support Great Horned Owls and other species will be greatly enhanced by the addition of the 20 acres of the proposed Open Space, or significantly damaged by permanent development of this habitat. This habitat is also vital for a diverse range of species.
We must ensure the Twin Lakes Open Space remains ecologically connected with Walden Ponds wetlands habitat.
Thank you for your help in creating Open Space here at Twin Lakes.
Yours Sincerely,
(add your name here)
