Student Health Promotion Committee at CU Anschutz started this petition to University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Facilities Management

Did you know that when you throw organic material in the trash, it produces gases such as methane that are harmful to human health?

The good news is that instead of going to the landfill, organic material can be composted. Composting eliminates the production of methane gas and produces nutrient-rich soil that can be used to plant new things. In the US, 1/3 of the trash that ends up in landfills could instead be composted.

Did you know that CU Anschutz currently has no compost as part of its waste management system? We seek to change that!

Student Health Promotion Environmental Committee, Student Senate, CU-CHASE (Climate and Health Advocacy, Sustainability, and Education), and the CU Conservation Initiative are working together to propose composting on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.

Short term goal: Integrate composting at food vendor locations such as Woodgrain Bagels in Education 2 North and Etai's in Research 1 by the end of the spring 2020 semester.

Long term goal: Have composting available campus-wide, creating a cleaner, more sustainable campus community that protects environmental health throughout Colorado.

Please sign this petition to show that there is student, faculty, staff, and community support of a campus composting program
