Help essential railworkers win hazard pay!

The Issue

Railroad workers along with logistics, grocery store, medical, sanitation, and other workers have proven how essential we are to society as we continue to work through the Coronavirus pandemic.


On March 26th, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) issued a 60-day emergency waiver of certain FRA rail safety regulations. Railroad workers can now be ordered to do work that was just recently in violation of federal safety law.


 Less safety and the ongoing COVID-19 crisis hits railroad workers at a time of understaffing due to "cost-cutting" by the rail industry. In February, CSX Intermodal even implemented a new policy, violating the union contract, that is meant to discourage us from taking sick-time. The essential work railroad workers do to keep the nation's supply chain going is becoming increasingly dangerous.


Given the hazardous conditions and the importance of our work, Transportation Communications Union (TCU) members working at CSX are demanding that CSX immediately begin paying time-and-a-half wages as hazard pay to all workers.


Let’s join our brothers & sisters in the labor movement who are fighting for safe conditions, paid sick leave, and hazard pay in workplaces across the country, including Teamsters, Communication Workers of America, United Autoworkers, and others!
