CSUN students should be reimbursed for campus-related fees amidst quarantine.

The Issue

Given that all instruction and coursework has been shifted to be conducted online, CSUN students of the Spring 2020 semester should be refunded all of the campus resource-related student fees for which they are unable to make use of, amidst the COVID-19 quarantine.

Aside from the tuition fee of $2,871.00, the other fees that were charged to our accounts (that make up the rest of the $3,486.00 semester total) regard assets that do not pertain to us as of March 12th, 2020.  These fees are the following:

Associated Students Fee - $107.00

Student Union Fee - $294.00

Instructionally-Related Activities Fee - $18.00

Health Facilities Fee - $3.00

Health Services Fee - $75.00

Campus Quality Fee - $118.00

Additionally Commencement Fees - $47.00+

TOTAL:  ~ $662.00

It does not make sense for students to be charged for items we are not able/allowed to use.  Since a refund order has already been addressed regarding parking permits, there is no reason why the rest of these fees should not be refunded as well - 50%, if not all, since the campus was closed roughly half way through the semester.

While these fees were mandatory at the time of enrollment, the above fees in particular should be made exceptions given the circumstances, considering they regard campus-related matters which do not apply to the average student at this point in time.

Yes academic course credit is being provided, but it is being provided off-campus.  And since these fees are campus-related, students should be reimbursed.
