CSULB has off campus dorms that are slightly over a mile away and they originally provided adequate transportation to and from on a consistent basis, but now they have decided to cut back the shuttle hours. Over the years, these hours have slowly diminished. In the 2017-2018 school year, it ran until 11pm. The 2018-2019 school year, it ran until 8pm. This school year it stops at 7pm. On campus shuttles run until midnight, while the other off campus shuttle runs until 11pm and goes about the same distance as the Beachside Shuttle minus a few on campus stops. Residents are getting left behind and stranded on campus. This includes people with evening classes, people without TAP cards because of the price increase, and people without cars. If things on campus are open or in session (the Library, the SWRC, the USU or events at the USU), the shuttle needs to run during those times for safe transportation. I've had friends get robbed at night due to lack of adequate transportation, as well as feel unsafe and scared. Finally, CSO Escort (on call transportation provided by UPD) isn't reliable because they will handle UPD matters before picking you up, so you could be stuck waiting.
