"Manipur is the Jewel of India and Switzerland of the East" -Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru In this beautiful state, today we witnessed innumerable cries of its citizens. Every problems targets bandhs and blockades as a means or medium to knock Government's door which is very discouraging. The state suffers alot because of bandh culture. According to an Article published in Imphal Times on June 8, 2016 written by Md Abdul Gaffar, Manipur's Economy Suffers a loss of Rupees 4,970 Crores till date if we calculate the loss at Rupees 35 Crores per day. In a state where its survival is based on sanctions of the Central Government, such an economic loss is unacceptable. Besides this bandhs and blockades had created lots of mental damages among the peace loving citizens of Manipur. The trust, love and respect among the different communities of Manipur has been in trouble as bandh mongers continues to provoke different communities. Manipur has experienced thousands of JAC formed and every JAC formed uses Bandh/Blockade as a tool. The Stubborn State Government hardly listens to the call of the people on all problems and this leads to maximum bandh culture. The Question here is, By calling bandh/blockade, Who suffers the most? We had witnessed many cases of Pregnant Mother who delivers their child in the roadside as they were blocked by bandh supporters. We Manipuris didn't even know how to organise it, we let our people suffer. We confront ourselves, burnt many vehicles and proves our bravery, is this right? So it is the humble plea to all civil societies of Manipur to stop this bandh culture. It is our own bold steps that will bring the changes. Let us together set an example for a better Manipur.
