CATHERINE ADAMS FOUND GUILTY OF ANIMAL CRUELTY - WILL BE SENTENCED ON AUGUST 22, 2018

Thank you so much to the Hanna Herald newspaper for deeming this case important enough to keep us all updated with all the details every step of the way. It is greatly appreciated! From their article: "Catherine then asked about the animals that had been seized. Looking confused the Judge noted that Catherine had just been sentenced to [I think that should say "convicted of", as she hasn't yet been sentenced] two counts of animal cruelty. 'It’s my right to try to get them back,' Catherine replied. Catherine is due back in court on Aug. 22, 2018 for sentencing." Unfortunately the ban Catherine Adams was given when she was previously convicted of animal cruelty in British Columbia only applied in the province of British Columbia and, as far as I understand, only to animal ownership. Thus, she could move to another province and legally own more animals, or even still be around animals in BC as long as she couldn't be proven to be the owner. The charges she's been convicted of now are federal so any ban she might receive when sentenced will apply across Canada. However, it is my sincere belief that the Criminal Code should be changed to ensure that anyone convicted of animal cruelty ONCE is never permitted to own, have the custody or control of, or reside in the same premises as an animal or a bird for the rest of his or her life!
