Croatia Must Suspend Its Adidas Deal Until FIFA’s Ball Sensor Decisions Are Fully Investig
The Issue
We, Croatian football supporters and members of the international football community, call on the Croatian Football Federation to suspend and formally reconsider its technical partnership with Adidas until the use of microchip technology in the controversial Croatia–Portugal match has been independently and transparently investigated. The key decision in the Croatia–Portugal match was justified by FIFA using data from the microchip technology integrated into the official adidas match ball. However, the public has not been given access to the complete raw sensor data, full unedited camera footage, precise time synchronisation records, the methodology used to interpret the data, or the complete communication between the match officials and the VAR team.
We are not claiming, without evidence, that Adidas directly manipulated the match or influenced the referees.
Our concern is that Adidas supplied technology that played a role in decisions which significantly harmed Croatia, while neither FIFA nor the technology providers have provided enough independently verifiable evidence to remove serious doubts about the accuracy, interpretation and presentation of that technology.
Under these circumstances, it is inappropriate for the Croatian national team to begin a new commercial partnership with Adidas without first demanding full transparency.
A national football shirt is more than a commercial product. It represents the players, supporters and football identity of a country. A technical partner must therefore meet the highest standards of integrity, accountability and transparency.
We demand that the Croatian Football Federation:
Request the complete raw connected-ball sensor data from every disputed incident in the Croatia–Portugal match.
Request full, unedited footage from all relevant broadcast, tracking and VAR cameras.
Request the complete audio communication between the referee, assistant referees and the VAR officials from FIFA.
Request documentation explaining how the sensor data were synchronised with the video footage and how each alleged contact with the ball was identified.
Commission a genuinely independent technical examination of the sensor data, video footage and computer-generated VAR visualisations.
Publicly explain whether the adidas agreement contains clauses relating to transparency, sporting integrity, reputational damage and termination.
Suspend the implementation and public promotion of the Adidas partnership until the requested information has been released and independently reviewed.
Terminate the partnership if Adidas or its technology partners refuse to provide sufficient transparency, or if an independent investigation identifies serious irregularities in the operation, processing or presentation of the technology.
This petition is not an attack on Adidas, Portuguese players, supporters or the Portuguese national team.
It is a peaceful demand for transparency, accountability and equal treatment in international football.
Football technology must not operate as an inaccessible black box. When technology is used to overturn goals, determine alleged touches and eliminate national teams from major competitions, the underlying evidence must be open to meaningful independent scrutiny.
Croatia should not promote the brand associated with the disputed technology until all legitimate questions have been answered.
No raw data, no trust.
We call on the Croatian Football Federation to defend the credibility of Croatian football and suspend its adidas partnership until the truth can be independently established
