We obtained an internal Fisheries (Queensland Shark Control Program) email from 2021 via RTI, where they are discussing the abandoned trial to replace shark nets with drumlines during whale migration season in QLD, which would reduce whale entanglements.

The Scientific Working Group (SWG) supported the trial, yet it was scrapped. 

The department as can be seen here, didn’t want to “put net replacement in lights” in their SWG meeting agenda and/or SWG communique. They just wanted to keep it to a “verbal update”. Interesting...

This obfuscation and deception is paid for with taxpayer money and we think it is not behaviour becoming of a Government department or public servants. What else are they burying?
