Reverse the Hoodie Dress Code Decision at Creighton Prep

Reverse the Hoodie Dress Code Decision at Creighton Prep
The Issue
The school has made the decision to stop allowing hoodies during the school day. The rule goes into effect at the start of the 2019-2020 school year. This is a guess, but I think it is safe to say that more than 50% of the students at Prep currently wear a hoodie during the school day. I wear a hoodie because the school can't seem to figure out how to keep the temperature in every room consistent. I also wear a hoodie because I have extra storage for things like calculators.
Below is a copy of the email that was sent to all students.
"Gentlemen,
I want to share with you a change we are making to Creighton Prep’s dress code policy for the 2019-2020 school year. As you know, the dress code is an important part of the school’s climate and culture. Our goal is to provide an environment that is free of distraction, safe, and conducive to learning. When we began permitting hoodies five years ago, the plan was to re-evaluate the decision each year to make sure the policy was mutually beneficial to the school’s culture, environment, and to the students.
After much internal discussion, we have decided that beginning next school year, students will no longer be permitted to wear hooded sweatshirts and other specific forms of outerwear during the academic school day. The new dress code policy regarding outerwear is as follows:
Outerwear, including jackets or hooded sweatshirts, may not be worn inside the building and must be kept in a student’s locker during the academic school day. During the academic school day, students may wear dress sweaters (cardigan, v-neck, quarter-zip, or crewneck) or Creighton Prep branded athletic or casual wear (v-neck, quarter-zip or crewneck). No other outside logos will be permitted.
The details of this policy change will be outlined in our 2019-2020 handbook and communicated to parents so families can plan ahead for next school year.
Thank you,
Mr. Brown"
