Mark has never initiated confrontations on line with fans. However, Fans who misunderstand and mischaracterize his politics, philosophy of life, and beliefs often do. 

Mark (my dad) has a very strict sense of truth and justice. He demands the utmost of both in himself and is offended by their abuse in others.

Discussion, to outright dishonesty and bullying. He made a commitment to himself that he would never allow bullies and liars to get away with their grifts, but would fight them whenever possible. 

When people made him a target of abuse, always…. Repeat…. Always lying about what he represents by decontextualizing tweet threads and applying their own twisted interpretations to obviously benign, pro life and reason tweets, he would fight back. Often times the fights became vitriolic… who wouldn’t get pissed at some person who is trying to ruin your reputation by claiming you’re something you’re not? At those times my dad would be sarcastic, cutting, and rude, to people who deserved it. These very same people archived these responses divorced from context and have been using them to try to cancel my dad ever since. 

Every single accusation can be disproven. Every single lie has been exposed. Did my dad use harsh language with toxic people? Yes. And he doesn’t regret speaking harshly to nihilists who seemingly to break things. He thinks nihilism, dishonesty, and fear should be fought every step of the way.

I want people who stand for integrity, strength, and honesty to sign this petition for one of the most decent people I’ve ever known. Far from the unsafe monster this small but loud minority claim he is, it is they who are the dangerous ones, often abusing the fandom inside and out of cons. Yet the initiators of lies, and smears continue to attend cons, while the one fighting them cannot… where’s the justice?
