Preston is a city with lots of potential. It is in the centre of the Lancashire aerospace cluster and is exceptionally well located on transport networks.

With the future move to replace the remaining district and county council set ups in non-metropolitan counties, and the creation of new unitary authorities, it’s important that the remaining unparished areas of City of Preston district have town and parish councils established.

A City of Preston civil parish, Fulwood Town Council and parish councils in both Ribbleton and Ashton would act as a local voice, address a democratic deficit and have the ability to take on local services and assets as per the Localism Act 2011. In Preston’s case, it can run the Guild celebrations as well as other assets like parks.
