The Issue

Every day, students at Greenville Senior High face significant challenges just to park their vehicles near campus. I have seen and experienced first-hand how difficult it is for students who are unable to secure a coveted parking pass. They are left with no choice but to park on surrounding downtown streets, which not only poses a safety hazard but often results in parking tickets or even being towed. The frustration of walking long distances to campus can be especially tough in inclement weather, adding unnecessary stress to our students' day. Worse still, those daring enough to park in the student lot without a pass are faced with penalties.

The current parking situation at Greenville Senior High highlights a critical issue: the urgent need for more dedicated student parking spaces. With a growing student body and limited parking facilities, this problem is only going to worsen unless immediate actions are taken.

Parking is not just about convenience, it's a matter of safety and inclusivity. Students deserve the peace of mind knowing they have a safe, designated place to park their vehicles. More than just avoiding tickets and long walks, an adequate parking solution would reduce traffic congestion on surrounding streets, improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians, and ultimately create a more positive school experience.

We urge the Greenville School District and local authorities to take decisive action. By collaborating with city planners and traffic engineers, they could explore solutions such as expanding current parking facilities or securing nearby spaces that could be converted into student parking. Implementing a shuttle service from remote parking areas could also be considered.

A commitment to solve the parking issue will show the school district's dedication to student welfare and safety, and ensure every student at Greenville Senior High is treated fairly.

Let's make parking safer and more accessible for all students at Greenville Senior High. Please sign this petition to demand more safe, dedicated student parking spaces now. Together, let's ensure a better, safer parking experience for everyone involved.
