The Issue

As the Vice President of the Audio Engineering Society at the University of Central Florida, I'm deeply invested in the success and growth of our members. As of now, UCF does not provide a dedicated studio space for our audio student organizations. This impacts not only the quality of education we receive but also limits our potential to innovate, learn collaboratively, and pursue our passions in audio engineering.

A dedicated studio space would greatly benefit students by providing the environment and resources needed to practice and hone their technical skills. Access to a studio environment is crucial for understanding real-world audio production processes, yet our students are currently deprived of this fundamental learning experience. With the rapid evolution of the music and entertainment industries, mastering these skills is essential to compete and excel.

Numerous universities across the United States provide their audio engineering programs with first-rate studio facilities, recognizing the importance of practical hands-on experience. It's time for UCF to step up and offer the same to its students. Building a studio space would not only attract prospective students but also bolster UCF’s reputation as a leader in innovation and technology, enhancing our competitiveness.

Our ideal vision for a studio would be any free space on campus that the Audio Engineering Society at UCF organization can host for us to utilize the equipment we already own and provide a space for any student, audio related or not, to use the space to create whatever audio creations they desire.

A practical solution involves repurposing existing underutilized spaces within the campus as studios or allocating resources to build new facilities. This requires collaboration between university staff, audio students, and existing organizations to identify the most feasible options. With proper planning and community support, this dream can become a reality, fostering an environment where creativity thrives and students’ potential is unleashed. Plenty of audio student organizations have their own equipment including us, all that would really be needed is a space.

I urge you to sign this petition to advocate for the establishment of a dedicated audio studio at UCF. With your support, we can ensure that current and future students receive the tools they need to succeed and keep UCF at the forefront of innovation.
