We, the citizens of Las Cruces, desire a humane, compassionate and professional  police department.  
  Recent excessive uses of force have led to preventable deaths of unarmed citizens. Las Cruces taxpayers have paid out over $12 MILLION dollars in settlements for such excessive use of force.  Meaning no disrespect to law officers who are caring, competent, and dedicated, we feel that LCPD and officers who violate law and policies should be held to account.  
    We therefore petition the City Council to work with all interested parties to implement direct citizens’ involvement in policing policies and procedures.  

    WE INVITE ALL LAS CRUCES RESIDENTS TO SIGN THIS PETITION.  PLEASE URGE OTHERS TO DO SO TOO.
