Important Update: Our Coyote Response Plan Is Moving Forward

Hi everyone! I wanted to share an update, because I know it’s been a little while since I’ve posted here.

Yesterday, I had a really productive 45-minute call with Supervisor Katrina Foley’s Chief of Staff. We are now working on putting together a larger private meeting in the next couple of weeks with Supervisor Foley’s staff, hopefully Supervisor Wagner’s staff as well, and the leadership from OC Animal Care, Animal Control, CDFW, and potentially other relevant organizations.

The goal of this meeting is to bring everyone to the same table and begin creating a real, coordinated response plan for coyotes and residents throughout our communities - including what happens when a resident reports a sick, injured, aggressive, or concerning coyote, who is responsible for responding, and what a better system could look like moving forward.

I also want everyone to know that just because you haven’t heard from me recently does not mean nothing is happening behind the scenes. Unfortunately, creating real change at this level is going to be a slower process than any of us would like, but action is being taken, conversations are happening, and this issue is continuing to move forward.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who signed, shared, sent me their experiences, and helped get this issue in front of the County. Your support is the reason these conversations are happening.
