Create an extended version of the 1986 Transformers the Movie
The Issue
It was August 8th 1986, a featured length movie was created based on a television show that was meant to promote toys. Though it bombed in the box office, it has developed a huge cult following where fans like myself watch constantly as it was a staple of our childhood. Over the years, this movie has been brought back in various forms; even playing it in theaters again for people who have never had the joys of experiencing it on the big screen. It was August 3rd of last year that Shout factory released a 4k version of the classic movie. I, a die hard fan of course, has collected the movie from the days of VHS, to Rhino to now. I was however disappointed as what we had for special features was the same thing from the Blu Ray. Also as much as I love the steelcase, the UK version of the 4k had much better gifts than what we in america were given.
To be honest I was hoping that they took the time to animate scenes that were only in story board form and put it into the movie. With today's technology, its possible; and even though most of the voice actors have come and gone there are so many impressionist that could fill that gap with the help of technology. If an A.I. can imitate Val Kilmer's voice fooling us the viewers that he spoke in Top Gun 2 who is to say that this can't be done.
When Disney aired Pocahontas on tv the aired a never before seen storyboard of a song that never saw the light of day but it was a beautiful song. Fast forward to 2005, when Disney released their 10th anniversary of that movie, they actually integrated that very scene into the movie. You have an option of either playing the extended version or playing the theatrical release. It was then I thought to myself, if Disney can do it why can't Hasbro?
Hasbro has the rights to Transformers and anything that once was Sunbow productions. Toei animation was a part of this film as well and I feel that the two can work together to create something that will be timeless for transformer fans of all generations.
It may sound unprofitable, but believe me when I say an extended version will sell like hot cakes especially if it has autographs of those who participated in this as well as the remaining voice actors. I believe that if fans who boycotted "ugly" sonic to change and become the sonic that was most deserved in the big screen, we in the transformers universe deserve an extended version of Transformers the movie. Hell, if they made Gi Joe the movie scripted as it was originally, it would've been just as nice.
So I'm calling out to those near and far to help me fight for this movie to be what it was meant to be. I've seen Youtubers do their best to animate the missing scenes, if they can do it, I know Hasbro can, they just need that push. So let's push for it!
Till all are one!
