Create An Executive Order for A National Animal Abuse Registry

Create An Executive Order for A National Animal Abuse Registry
The Issue
Animals, whether they are wildlife, pets, or livestock deserve to be treated humanely by people.
We, the petitioners, ask that President Donald J. Trump sign an executive order creating a national animal abuse registry. This registry is to be strictly enforced in every U.S. state, the district of Columbia, and every U.S. territory immediately upon its signature.
The following are examples that would be declared as animal abuse, but these examples are not limited to what is considered animal abuse
- The punching, kicking, beating, burning or scalding of an animal.
- Keeping an animal trapped inside a cage or pen their entire lives.
- Denying an animal access to a sanitary living situation.
- Denying an animal access to sanitary food meant specifically for their bodies according to scientists.
- Denying an animal access to the sun for appropriate times.
- Denying an animal access to clean water.
- Overcrowding animals with other animals.
- Leaving dogs chained outside for extremely lengthy periods.
- Leaving dogs outside for extremely lengthy periods in very hot and very cold weather. The breed of dog is considered in the appropriate length of time for being outdoors in very cold and very hot weather.
- Screaming and using profanity incessantly and repeatedly in an animal’s face. There would need to be video proof of this.
- Dumping an animal on a roadside, dumpster, leaving them after you move out, etc. Animals must be surrendered to an animal shelter, much preferably for it not to be a high kill shelter, or a trusted loved one who you know will care for the animal.
- Purposely starving an animal.
- Purposely quickly overfeeding an animal in order to quickly fatten them up for slaughter which causes multiple health problems and extreme pain for the animals.
It is our sincere hope that animals’ lives will greatly improve, and that we can progress as a society and become more empathetic. By having a national animal abuse registry it keeps animals safe, brings criminals to justice, dissolves greed in factory farms, and let’s people know who they can and cannot trust with an animal. When a person, including an adolescent, is arrested for animal cruelty their name and information will be registered into the national database preventing them from owning another pet or working with animals forever or until a psychiatrist or psychologist has psychologically assessed the person after intense mental health counselling and no longer views them as a threat.
