As humans, it is our responsibility to protect our planet, including all animals, whether big or small. Animals are pure and untainted by our modern world; they do not understand our traffic patterns. While driving up Highway 24, it rips my heart in two, when I see deer laying on the side of the road. We learn in driving that we can’t always swerve out of the way or stop for these animals; this is why we need a wildlife crossing.

West Highway 24 between Woodland Park and Manitou Springs sees significant vehicle traffic and is also home to various wildlife species. A wildlife crossing would provide a safe passage for animals like deer, reducing roadkill incidents and improving driver safety.
