Its massive appeal within our own campus is already proven: as of June 24th, 2026, Marvel Rivals is the 2nd most popular game at Comets LANding with an impressive 8,835 plays. By establishing an official varsity team, UT Dallas would capitalize on this massive internal momentum and join other reputed institutions that have embraced this trend, thus attracting prospective students who have a keen interest in both gaming and pop culture.
The benefits of forming a Marvel Rivals team are manifold. Firstly, it will encourage teamwork and strategic thinking among players. Our students have already proven they can compete at the highest tier, recently qualifying for the NECC LAN in San Antonio and securing an incredible 3rd place finish with barely any support from our esports program.
