The Issue

The federal deficit has been a growing concern for many Americans, including myself. Despite various measures to curb it, the deficit continues to rise, putting immense pressure on future generations. Like many of you, I believe that finding innovative and fair solutions is essential to address this pressing issue. One such solution could be the establishment of a US Federal monthly raffle, an idea that invites nationwide participation and offers tangible contributions towards deficit reduction, while also providing exciting rewards for participants.

A US Federal monthly raffle could work similarly to a 50/50 raffle, where half of the proceeds fund government operations directly, while the other half is distributed back to participants as prize money. This initiative would stimulate voluntary contributions to the federal budget, mitigating the need for new taxes or borrowing. Importantly, because the raffle is a governmental mechanism, winnings should be exempt from federal income tax, promoting fairness and maximizing participants' winnings.

The raffle would operate with a tiered prize structure, ensuring multiple winners each month, which would increase interest and participation. Additionally, by incorporating a second-chance drawing, participants would have extra opportunities to win, increasing their engagement and investment in this communal goal.

States and local governments could choose to impose taxes as they see fit, respecting the principles of federalism and local autonomy. This aspect would allow for local revenue generation without interfering with the primary goal of reducing the federal deficit.

To make this proposal a reality, we must call upon our lawmakers to consider this innovative approach. By creating a US Federal monthly raffle, we can tackle the deficit in a fairer, more engaging manner and work collectively towards a more balanced federal budget.

I believe this proposal can gain widespread support, but we need to voice our collective endorsement to make it happen. Please sign this petition if you agree that a federal monthly raffle could be a beneficial and effective tool in reducing the federal deficit.
