The Issue

Living in White Plains with two energetic kids, our family knows firsthand the challenges of raising children in an urban environment. Surrounded by the bustling city life, many children's playgrounds and activities are not conveniently accessible to those living in apartments, especially ones without a backyard. This is why Turnure Park, nestled close to downtown White Plains, is a gem for the families nearby.

Imagine the joy and laughter a splash pad would bring to this area, providing a perfect oasis for our children to cool off during hot summer days, engage in outdoor play, and foster friendships. It's not just about adding a new feature to the park; it's about enhancing the quality of life for families in our community.

Splash pads are incredibly beneficial: they're safe, environmentally friendly, and accessible to children of all ages and abilities. Communities with splash pads tend to see a reduction in heat-related issues among children and an increase in physical activities, both essential for growing up healthy.

The City of White Plains has the opportunity to make a significant positive impact by installing a splash pad at Turnure Park. The park’s location, accessibility, and existing infrastructure make it an ideal spot. Moreover, splash pads require less maintenance and expense than traditional pools, offering a sustainable way to provide public enjoyment.

We urge local city authorities, community planners, and philanthropists to consider this investment in our children’s future. By signing this petition, you support creating a lively, safe, and refreshing environment right in the heart of White Plains, fostering a stronger sense of community.

Join us in making Turnure Park a paradise for our little ones to enjoy, bond, and thrive. Please sign this petition to show your support and encourage a splash pad for our children at Turnure Park.

A spash pad at Ternure Park sounds like a wonderful idea and I'm grateful to Luana and Derrick Chaney and everyone who has brought the idea to my attention. I don't want to overpromise or get ahead of myself. The Recreation Department has to analyze the feasibility and cost. If, after that analysis, we can safely add a splash pad without making difficult budgetary choices, I will happily vote in favor of adding a splash pad. I hope we can do it, and thanks again to everyone who has raised this idea! Jeremiah Frei-Pearson White Plains Common Council Member
