The Issue

As a parent living in Absecon, I know firsthand how important it is for our kids to have safe places to play, explore, and just be kids. Veterans Memorial Park in Galloway is a wonderful spot for families—it has open space, a playground, and room to run. The problem? Getting there safely.

Right now, the only way to walk there from Absecon is along Route 9, which has limited sidewalks and heavy traffic. That means families, including young kids, are often forced to walk along the road or cut across private property. It’s not safe, and it’s not fair to expect parents to risk their children’s safety just to enjoy a local park.

That’s why we’re proposing something simple but meaningful: a nature trail at the end of Fourth Street that connects directly to Veterans Memorial Park. This trail would give families a safe, scenic, and walkable path—away from traffic—that encourages outdoor activity and brings our community closer together.

We’re excited to share that Galloway Township is fully on board and ready to offer their support and services to help build this trail. That kind of partnership shows how much this matters—not just to Absecon, but to our whole area.

We’re asking our local leaders to support this project and make it a priority. Let’s work together to build something that makes a real difference for families now and for generations to come.

Please sign this petition to show your support for the Fourth Street nature trail. Let’s make Veterans Memorial Park safely accessible for all of us.
