The Issue

Boston University is home to a diverse and vibrant community of students, each with unique backgrounds, talents, and aspirations. Among these students are countless amazing girls who are searching for a place they can truly call home. However, there is an imbalance in our panhellenic community at Boston University.

Although the current sororities provide excellent communities, many deserving young women were left disappointed because they reach capacity quickly, leaving girls without the option to join. It's painful to witness the disappointment in these women, many of whom ultimately decided to drop out of recruitment altogether. They felt overlooked in the chaos, as though they were competing just to receive simple recognition and a sense of belonging. The demand is there, and with support from Boston University and the student body, we can provide not just a community but a lifelong sisterhood that values personal growth and empowerment for all future potential new members.

We propose that student organizations and university administration take actionable steps to welcome and encourage the establishment of a new sorority.  We call upon Boston University, its student organizations office, and the panhellenic community to consider this significant step. Let us come together to empower our women, expand our sisterhood, and reinforce the inclusive spirit of our campus.

Please sign this petition to support the creation of a new sorority at Boston University—one that will embrace more of the student body’s incredible women and provide the sisterhood they yearn for.
