The Issue
Hospitals are supposed to save lives. It almost cost me mine… In 2022, I gave birth at a Catholic hospital and was subjected to an illegal tubal ligation (I didn’t sign the federally required Medicaid consent form)—a procedure that later caused a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy. I have chronic iron deficiency, pernicious anemia, and factor V leiden making it even more dangerous. On top of that, I was handed 16 pages of another patient’s records mixed with my own. And now, it’s being determined if my daughter suffered a brain injury at birth due to oxygen deprivation. These were all preventable mistakes. My story is not unique. Across the U.S., patients suffer from hospital malpractice and negligence, and far too often, these errors are hidden. People feel powerless, while hospitals—places we trust with our lives—sometimes cause harm instead of saving lives. The McMillon Mandate would change this. It would create a national platform where patients can file anonymous, public complaints about hospitals, triggering investigations when a facility receives enough complaints. Medical errors are a leading cause of death, killing hundreds of thousands of people every year—deaths that could be prevented. Hospitals should not be allowed to get away with harming patients. Sign the petition for the McMillon Mandate. Let’s protect our families and ensure our healthcare system operates with honesty, integrity, and transparency.

Did you know medical errors are the 3rd leading cause of death in the US after heart disease and cancer? It’s time to make a change!
