Thank you to everyone who is emailing us with their stories. We wish we could say we were shocked by the content, but the reality is that so many key workers are in a similar position to the one we are. We would also like to welcome on board our two new members, A and M, as well as our partner. For now, we are keeping their identities anonymous.
Anyway, here’s D’s story. Thank you, D, for your testimony and permission to tell our supporters.
“I got Covid 19 while working in a care home, my bosses failed to head warnings, they failed to protect us (we had zero PPE); that was saved for management and nursing.
Then I was rushed to hospital a few weeks later and then discharged in less than 24 hours after my wife had been told I might not live. Then proceeded to get pneumonia and pleurisy, then long covid and my suffering truly began.
I have been entitled to no help, no support, had to spend the money I had saved for help to buy on paying the bills and am barely affording to survive and now in huge debt while the government makes money off my help to buy that I am only paying interest off of.
I have been isolated and alone and wonder why I push to survive and recover! If it wasn’t for my daughter I don’t know if I would!
Government fails to recognise long covid sufferers and it makes me mad, not that anyone cares about us!
Hoping I still have the drive to survive tomorrow. But each day I struggle to find it more than the last.”
