Dismissals, everywhere

Well, this week has seen two of our colleagues losing their jobs because they have Long Covid.
The last couple of weeks for me (Cass) have been a whirlwind of medical appointments and scans and a meeting with MSP Foysol Choudhury. The impact of all the meetings, the Covid 19 Recovery Committee session at the Scottish Parliament has all taken its toll. That means I become symptomatic and have to prioritise health. I know my colleagues, Rachel and Sarah, have also been having a tough time, with lots to deal with and that means we haven’t been able to do anywhere near as much promotion of this campaign as we want to.
If anyone out there is a keyworker from any discipline who would like to help out with the campaign, please email us or contact us via our Twitter @KeyWorkerPetUK. If you would like us to (anonymously) tell your story, please get in touch. We are happy to share to public social media posts, create an update and so on.
We would also massively appreciate it if you would share this campaign again across your social media accounts, to try and raise its profile.
Occupational Health have said to me that given my age and service, despite everything going on with my health, it is not looking likely I will be awarded Ill Health Retirement. This is something I hear time and time again in the Long Covid groups. So we are being laid off, pointed towards the Benefits Office (and all that entails) and facing financial destitution and that just isn’t right.
Thank you once again to everyone who has left such kind comments and who continues to sign and share the campaign. It means a lot and we hope to start moving it along a lot more in the coming weeks.
