Hello there!

Firstly an apology: It’s Cass here. Rachel, Sarah and I have not been well, so we have not been able to share and promote the petition as much as we want to. We are all really unwell, dealing not only with symptoms, but also attending appointments, dealing with issues, also with workplace situations as well. It means we have to prioritise our health, first.

Again, a huge thank you to all our supporters who are sharing and signing this petition.

The last several days have seen me, Cass, meeting with an MSP, attending a session on why people are economically inactive at the Scottish Parliament and also appearing in the Daily Mail (along with a colleague from Long Covid Scotland). Rachel has been active with STIMULATE-ICP.

There was also a recommendation from the IIAC, which, while welcome, unfortunately means that many key workers with Long Covid simply won’t meet the criteria for Industrial Injury Benefit.

If there are any key workers out there who feel they can do a little to share this campaign, we would be hugely grateful - please contact us on our Twitter @KeyWorkerPetUk or emailing us at keyworkerpetitionuk@gmail.com as we need to grow our team.

I am planning to work with Rachel and Sarah on letters that can be written to local and national newspapers to raise awareness of the extremely precarious financial position key workers are currently in. We are also going to work on a letter that can be written to your elected representatives asking why a compensation scheme isn’t being set up for us. Having given our health, jobs and careers to the nation, it isn’t right we face homelessness and poverty as well. That IS what we are facing and it is coming, soon.

So please accept our apologies for not being able to update or promote this campaign. We are planning on looking at the petition to see if we can make it more eye catching. I am very aware that we have an entire community of key workers with Long Covid who need support. I find my limitations very frustrating.

Thank you again, to everyone supporting us. It means so much.
