A few years ago, Crayola started a recycling program based on an American sudents' idea. The program consists in receiving used markers (from any brand) from American and Canadian schools and using them to gain electricity.

Seeing as only schools from USA and Canada are able to participate, I thought it would be amazing if the program was worldwide so, therefore more schools from all over the world could participate.

In schools, especially the ones using white boards, there are used at least 5000 markers per year. I know it seems ireal but, think of it this way: a pack of markers is usually consisted of 12 markers, sometimes even more, and in a regular class there are about 20 children and if each of them has a pack of 12 markers, we already have 240 markers without the board ones or permanent markers, highlighters! With the amount of markers used in a class alone we could make enough energy to aliment an SUV for a distance of 15 miles!

By signing this petition and sharing it to the world, you help us get this program to be available for every school from all over the world, and that means BILLIONS of markers would be recycled per year.
