As many of you know, a data center moratorium has been in place since January 2026. It has been extended twice and is set to expire on November 1, 2026.
This petition asks the Board of Commissioners (BOC) to hire outside legal counsel to review our proposed data center ordinances. The Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Board already requested an independent legal review, but the BOC denied it.
The P&Z Board did an outstanding job drafting these 33-page ordinances with direct community input. However, the documents have now been sent to our county attorneys, who lack specialized expertise in data center development and zoning law.
These ordinances will serve as our only legal protection against unwanted development. Before any data center project is approved, we must ensure there are no legal loopholes developers can exploit.
By signing this petition, you are urging our elected representatives on the BOC to submit these ordinances to an experienced, specialized legal team for review. Help us ensure our community’s protections are truly ironclad.
Sign the petition today to protect CC taxpayers, landowners, and our community’s future.
