Being that members of the Red Hook community have only begun to hear of the plans to construct the BASIS Independent Brooklyn school in our neighborhood, we request that Community Board 6 postpone their decision on the zoning permit application (BSA Calendar No. 282-13-BZ) at least until their next general board meeting.

Because the construction of an institution like BASIS Independent Brooklyn would have such a profound impact on the future of the immediate vicinity and our neighborhood as a whole, we believe that more time is needed for community members to be made aware of the issues surrounding the potential establishment of BASIS Independent Brooklyn in Red Hook so that we can make an informed decision.
