Expand motorcycle parking at QUT GP

Students are fed up with the motorcycle parking limitations at the QUT Gardens Point campus. We want somewhere to park without the risk of being fined. At the moment there are 145 "officially" zoned parking spaces for motorbikes. This is no where near enough parks to accommodate the large amount of students who ride to uni or work in the surrounding areas. These zoned spaces fill up very quickly and it's hard to find a park when you need one.
Currently, right next to the zoned parks there is a large dirt patch. This dirt patch and the surrounding area is out of the way, non intrusive and has no other use. This dirt patch and the surrounding paths is the perfect place to allow additional parking and has been used that way for some time. However, recently the council has decided to engage in blatant revenue raising. Already broke uni students have started receiving fines for parking on council property. This isn't fair when there is no where else to park!
We have no where else to park. Instead of fining us we ask Cr Vicki Howard to help us negotiate an expanded parking area with the council. According to her website, she has a drive "that delivers the roads and transport we need." Encouraging the use of motorcycles for inner city transport is part of the solution to reducing traffic and congestion. So Cr Vicki, let's work together and expand the motorbike parking area at QUT Gardens Point. All we ask is for a few signs to be installed that allow motorbikes to be parked in the aforementioned areas without being fined.
