The qualifying system for the National Championships in NCAA D3 wrestling is completely lopsided. The top three place finishers in each regional championship qualify for the National Championships. This would be fine except that some regions (the East region and Northeast region) have up to 19 teams while the West region has a mere 11 teams. No teams have been added to the west region while they continue to be added every year to all other regions.

Do you think the reason that the two same teams have won the National Championship in D3 wrestling for more than 15 years is simply due to good coaching?? Think again!!

The NCAA had committed to this being the year to make changes to this unequitable system but it appears that backroom politicking has once again thwarted all efforts made by those who care about the greater good of our sport and our student athletes so that a certain institutions are among the very few that will have a chance at competing for a national title. Bottom-line- Student athletes are being stripped of the opportunity to compete at nationals and those who have the authority to fix the problem continue to drag their feet. THIS PETITION CALLS FOR THE CHANGES TO BE MADE SO THAT EVERY WRESTLER IN ALL OF D3 HAS AN EQUAL CHANCE TO QUALIFY AND COMPETE AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS!
