CPA Australia & CA ANZ: Help delegitimise the Myanmar military junta

It has been nine months since the Myanmar military's brutal and illegal attempted coup. The junta has continued its violent assault throughout the country and increased its attacks against civilians, killing and detaining thousands.
Leading international and regional accounting bodies from across the world, including Australia, are acting disgracefully by participating and sponsoring the upcoming ASEAN Federation of Accountants Conference, in which the junta’s auditor general is “Guest of Honour”.
Justice For Myanmar calls on CPA Australia and CA ANZ, two accountancy peak bodies, to withdraw support from the conference unless the military junta is excluded.
The junta’s auditor general must be rejected for his role in war crimes, crimes against humanity and grand corruption, not legitimised on the world stage by leading bodies of the accounting profession.
This high-level accounting conference is co-organised by the Myanmar Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), a body that operates under the junta-controlled Myanmar Accountancy Council.
Please sign and share this petition to show your solidarity with the people of Myanmar who are courageously resisting the military junta.
Help us put pressure on CPA Australia and CA ANZ to withdraw their support from the AFA Conference unless the Myanmar junta is excluded.
