Liberty University is closed for most of the student population, but Faculty and Staff are forced to continue coming to work. There are hundred of people that work at Liberty University. Forcing non-essential employees to work during this pandemic will cause the corona virus to spread unchecked in the Lynchburg area. Liberty's Faculty and Staff should be able to stay home and away from each other. The Liberty University website instructs Faculty and Staff members to report to a supervisor if they are feeling ill. At that point the virus is contagious and it may have already infected dozens of people. Many of the Faculty and Staff at Liberty are elderly or have preexisting conditions that could cause them to be more susceptible to the virus. Virginia's Governor stated that groups of ten or more could put people at risk for catching Covid-19, and the CDC warns people to practice social distancing, yet Liberty University is still open for Faculty and Staff. There are hundreds of cars parked at the main buildings everyday. With some students coming back from out of state on the 23rd of March, Faculty and Staff are even more at risk of catching the Corona Virus and spreading it throughout Lynchburg and the surrounding areas. Liberty does not have acceptable measures put in place to keep their Faculty and Staff safe. That is why I am asking you to sign this petition. You may just save a life.
