The Issue

As of June 2020 India had a total of 206,094 Covid19 recorded cases. Our IGCSE board exams were called off and marks awarded on an average of past assessments.
Now the current batch of students have a pen – paper assessment scheduled in November 2020 in our respective school classroom. Our schools have limited or no protection against the ongoing pandemic and they are not ready to accept responsibility towards safety of the students appearing for the examinations.
The ongoing scenario is even grave with the infected numbers increasing to 3,310,234 as on 27th of August 2020. At this rate by the time the scheduled examinations take place the gravity of the situation would be even worse aggregating to a rough estimated 75 lakhs of Covid19 positive cases in India.
When the examinations were called off under a much safer environment in June, scheduling the examination in October facing an extremely dangerous situation calls for giving a serious thought.
We suggest conducting online examinations or assessment based on past performance of individual students instead of the scheduled pen- paper assessments in October 2020.
