Why this petition matters
Started by Steve Smith
A development of 204 houses is proposed to be built on the Sphinx Green site with access from Siddeley Avenue for potentially 500 additional cars. Please sign this petition to stop this development. We are opposed to the development for the following reasons:
- Additional traffic of 500 cars and removal of this inner city green area will increase air pollution which affect the quality of life of individuals and leads to early deaths.
- Siddely Avenue and the linked roads are already heavily congested at peak times adding to traffic jams and stress. Inner city air pollution, which the Council has specific targets to reduce, will be considerably increased. Coventry has had the highest air pollution in the West Midlands and by removing inner city green areas and adding housing exasperates the situation. Data is being gathered presently (Oct, '20) at a time when traffic is considerably less which will not reflect realistic figures once life returns to normal.
- Siddeley Avenue has had many accidents including a child getting knocked over recently.
- The green area which offers unique habitat to wildlife will forever be gone. Residents will not be able to enjoy this green area. The Lombardy Poplars and other trees can be seen for miles around. Wildlife will be gone forever.
So, please sign this petition to stop this development.
