Deirdre Weber started this petition to Courts of australia

The punishment for animal cruelty on pets in Australia has to recognised as a serious crime...the Courts of Australia and the Magistrates passing the judgments must change their decisions....a suspended sentence of a Good Behaviour bond is not good enough...

The incidence as an example of an Adelaide woman, Tracy Goldberg, who starved her Bull Terrier, Butch, she was given a three month jail sentence, but was suspended to a two year Good Behaviour Bond...

This dog was left to starve in a backyard experiencing, pain, cold and suffering.

This form of punishment cannot continue...the amount of cruelty to pets is increasing acknowledged by the RSPCA...they are living, feeling beings and punishment must make the offender be aware that this in not acceptable ...they must experience a punishment of quality time for the crime and expense to them..

The Laws have to be changed to send these offenders to jail to make them realise they cannot continue to do this and receive a "slap on the wrist"...They will go out and get another dog or cat and do it all over again at the expense of the animal.

Magistrates cannot continue to be so nonchalant about this vile treatment and expect the cruelty that is happening in Australia to lessen.

Do what a Magistrate in America does....the offence to the animal is given to the offender....eg., starving...(not feed the person for a couple of days)...abandon an animal on the street or in a rural area...(make them spend the night on their own in a rural area to fend for themselves)...Apparently this has had good results..
