The Issue

Living behind Light Farms Sweetwater neighborhood in Celina, Texas, we encounter everyday tribulations due to conditions of county roads 51 and 53. Notably, these roads serve as a route for trucks heading to surrounding industries (in special Lhoist, Fleet-Lube, Gonzalez Bros and Burnco), beginning their journey as early as 4am. The subsequent effects of the truck traffic are two-fold: Firstly, there is the loud noise exacerbating the early morning quiet - an undeniable nuisance. Secondly, and significantly more crucial, is the dispersion of dust which poses a consistent health threat to residents in our neighborhood and possibly others.

Emission of dust can lead to an array of respiratory ailments over time and studies suggest that exposure to dust particles can also enhance the risk of heart disease (source: EPA). Thus, the residents are potentially at the brink of long-term health consequences due to the excessive dust pollution.

This petition is critical to soliciting the attention of local government to initially divert the traffic in the alternate route available for the trucks or restrict the traffic if that is not possible. As next step, to pave these roads. It's high time we prioritize the health and well-being of our community residents. Please sign and share this petition.
