County Officials: Get Toxic Chemicals Out of Our Children’s Products
The Issue
As the holidays approach, families are heading to stores across New York for presents and toys. But many toys currently on the shelves contain harmful chemicals. The results of recent testing in Albany County shows the extent of the problem of toxic toys in our state. Toys and children’s products containing lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic and other highly dangerous chemicals were easily found on store shelves of prominent national chain stores including Walmart, Target and Party City.
Parents have a right to know what chemicals lurk on toy shelves this holiday season. Action starts at the local level, and county officials need to pass laws that identify and ban the most dangerous chemicals from children’s products so parents don’t have to worry.
Contact your county officials today to show your support for getting chemicals out of children’s toys and products.
