All schools within Santa Clara County have been following and applying mask mandates in classrooms and on campus for all students K-12 based on the “guidance” of the County of Santa Clara Health Department. 

By way of numerous discussions and phone calls with the County of Santa Clara Health, the County has admitted it implements these mask rules based on the Health Orders (HO) written and signed by Governor, Gavin Newsom (pictured above with celebrity Magic Johnson) and State Public Health Officer & Director, Tomas J. Aragon. California.  HO dated January 12, 2022 states:

“b. K-12 students are required to mask indoors, with exemptions per CDPH face mask guidance.   Adults in K-12 school settings are required to mask when sharing indoor spaces with students.  

c. Persons exempted from wearing a face covering due to a medical condition, must wear a non-restrictive alternative, such as a face shield with a drape on the bottom edge, as long as their condition permits it.“

However, Governor Newsom continually fails to follow his own HO requirements and as recently as January 30th, (just 8 days after the HO cited above was issued), Newsom attended the NFL Ram’s game in LA among 70,000 others in attendance, maskless in a crowded luxury box taking photos with other maskless California mayors and celebrities.  He clearly does NOT believe in the necessity of his HO and has shown a complete lack of adherence to following his HO with respect to wearing a mask when social distancing is not an option. 

Therefore, if Governor Newsom does not follow his own “mandatory” mask HO then the County of Santa Clara Health needs to stop enforcing this HO on the schools and community. Newsom still declares CA to be in a State of Emergency due to Covid19, yet his irresponsible behavior and attendance at the NFL game clearly tells us there is no longer such an emergency in CA and therefore, enforcing masks on students is no longer necessary. 

AS NEWSOM HAS DISPLAYED FOR ALL OF US: Masking should be a CHOICE not a MANDATE.  UNMASK our KIDS.
