COUNTY VOTE ON LAND ACQUISITION IN EL MONTE VALLEY LAKESIDE CA

COUNTY VOTE ON LAND ACQUISITION IN EL MONTE VALLEY LAKESIDE CA
Why this petition matters

There are 390 acres, in two separate parcels, in the rural area of El Monte Valley in Lakeside currently owned by Helix Water District that are up for sale. The County of San Diego had the opportunity to buy these parcels, and back in December approved purchase of 104 acres of this land. The funds are in place to make the purchase. However, there are new members of the Board since that vote was cast who may not be fully familiar with the situation. The new Board of Supervisors is voting on finalizing the deal on February 10, 2021. It is urgent that this land be purchased by the County so it can be conserved and utilized for the public good as open space, instead of being left exposed to development that loses the rural character of the area and doesn't have the community's interests at heart. We want to send a message to the County Board of Supervisors before they vote on this issue February 10. We urge them to VOTE YES to this land acquisition and finalize the deal. There are only 10 days until the vote. Please help us save El Monte Valley by signing this petition which will be sent to the Board of Supervisors before they vote. YOUR VOICE COUNTS!
