Benton-Franklin Coalition started this petition to County Commissioners

Benton-Franklin Residents:  Please sign the below letter that will be delivered to our commissioners from the community on Thursday, Nov 5.

Dear Benton and Franklin County Commissioners:

We are writing to request that a community approved Benton-Franklin Health District Emergency Advisory Panel be immediately formed to make future decisions and directives regarding both Community Business Rules and School District Opening Rules for virus and health safety going forward.

This panel should be made up of Local Physicians, Scientists and Health Experts.  The Panel should be by nomination and open for public comment before final appointment.

The decisions affecting thousands of businesses and thousands of school age children in our community is way too important to be decided upon by one person.    We need health experts from across the community to bring their knowledge and research in for sound discussion that is not political and not fear-based, but rather based on science and real data in our community.

Dr. Person should not be the sole direction and leader of our community.  She should be asked to step down and the panel take her place during the pandemic.  Decisions that affect both the health and mental well-being of our children should not be placed into one person’s hands but rather a group of our most trusted medical and scientific professionals.

We request that you call an emergency BFHD meeting November 9th.   This meeting's agenda would include discussion and creation of the panel as well as open up the nomination process of panel members.

Your immediate response is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Benton-Franklin Community Members
